Community Support

Because an organization has a social obligation to share its success with those less fortunate, Irwin & Leighton and its employees enthusiastically offer financial and personal support to a wide range of community social programs and activities. This is principally done in two ways:

1. Corporate Volunteerism

Irwin & Leighton’s Committee for Corporate Volunteerism consists of employees from all parts of the Company. The Committee for Corporate Volunteerism identifies worthwhile opportunities for community support and organizes employees to contribute their time and/or resources to these programs.
In recent years, Irwin & Leighton and its employees have:

hosted luncheons for veterans living at Coatesville’s Veterans Hospital.

—

built a playground for Laurel House the only emergency domestic violence shelter in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania;

—

participated in and supported Pottstown’s Soap Box Derby Challenge Race which provides a taste of soap box derby racing for special needs children;

—

raised funds for The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
and The Breast Health Institute;

—

organized an American Red Cross Blood Drive;

—

volunteered on a Habitat for Humanity project;

—

donated to the Marine Corps Care Package Drive and Toys for Tots;

—

collected toys, clothes and household items for Christ’s Home for Children;

—

collected “gently used” books to support the Montgomery County Literacy Group;

2. Corporate Giving

Irwin & Leighton also supports numerous organizations with corporate donations including:

THON – Irwin & Leighton proudly supports this organization, the largest student-run philanthropy organization in the world. Activities include The Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon which raises funds to help conquer childhood cancer and is affiliated with The Four Diamonds Fund which supports the Penn State Children’s Hospital.
